I'm going to be heading over to the UK at some point - and as i've got a tri-band phone, was thinking - is it still possible to buy a sim-card, put money on it - and use it immediately?

My current phone is with T-mobile (pronounced T-mobil for some reason) so i guess a UK T-mobile sim card is bound to work???

Anyone know for sure?
Any advice?

It depends if it is locked to t-mobil out in usa, if it is unlocked then you can use any sim card which are availiable over the counter in any good mobile phone retailer. If not maybe a uk t-mobile sim will work. Some of these network providers are fussy, mite be worth a phone call to your network?!

Hey Dave

Mine is a T - Mobil and it works fine in the UK When you get there it just uses any network it can find and then when you make a call it charges your US account. Mine logged onto Vodafone all the time.

Dave, I've got a PAYG sim card you can have. It has never been used so you will not get strange people texting and calling you. I've a spare mobile you can use when in the uk too just incase you have problems, the sim is virgin, which is the same network as t-mobile. If your phone is a nokia, I can unlock it for use on any network.

yeah right jim! i bet your number will be in there *happy* thats strange enough!!

i can also get hold of free sim cards i reckon. its the 02 ones with the free texts etc. Think my mates got one or two left.

if its not a nokia unlocking details can be bought of ebay. i've done all my phones for 99p purchases of ebay!
