hi all, me and the grumpy mechanic got my mini running for the first time last nite, it fired up easily, and ticked over nicely, everything was good.
as i will be running about 15psi through the engine once its run in, will i need an uprated carb needle and carb spring to run this amount of boost.
also how many miles do u guys run a new engine in for.

cheers ben.

i'd get one of the avonbar carb springs but as for the needle an off the shelf one just wont cut it, you'll need to have it setup properly by a decent RR operator...

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

It wants to be checked on the rollers before running in as well. you can still do as much damage running in if too lean or rich.

basically a std needle will be fine to start from as in theory it will be too "thick" all the way along if the engine has been modified meaning it can be reduced where required.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

an Avonbar 12 psi needle will place you in the ballpark safley to 10psi of boost

nothing more
providing its not deting & you have the right CR ratio.

hopefully with intercooler

so how do u safely run over 12 psi if the avon bar needles are only good for 10?

you go to decent RR and get a needle profiled for your requirements.

ben dodar Avonbar do a 12psi boost needle

while ian at avonbar does an excellent job of these its only a ballpark guess!

depending on you engine spec.*wink*

i stated 10psi of boost because i wanted to give you a margin of saftey!*wink*

befor you go to the RR like bud666 stated

a lambda gauge etc like mini 1071S stated is the way to go as well but theres no substitute for a GOOD RR operator who gets it spot on!
