Hi folks -

Can anyone tell me if the Metro Turbo engine takes the same plugs (same gaps too?), leads & oil as the standard 1275 Cooper? I've been using that specialist combined engine & gearbox Mineral oil you get from Minispares - I take it that this is still ok?

oil, well if it works ok in nat-asp, it should work ok in the turbo!

What's the score with the plugs then?

What's the best brake fluid to use for a Mini Turbo running standard turbo engine an Metty turbo brakes?

I use std NGKs BP6ES (IIRC) but there is some debate about wether these are any good or not... have a look back throught the pages on here, some good points by TD.

If its for road I'd use DOT 5.1 if for Track than dot 5.1 will probably do but Castrol SRF is the danglies!

Lots... its good in heavy things like my RS. But probably utterly unecessary in a mini... i haven't had a chance to find out yet! My one trackday last year with niec low power hardly stressed the brakes... I was more worried about the engine falling out!

I think the Millers you mentioned is a semi sinthetic oil which is what you should be using, a 100% mineral oil dosen't like the heat of the turbo and can leave carbon deposits in the turbo bearings.

As for spark plugs, I use NGK BPR9ES RS turbo ones. I think the standard metro ones are BPR7ES which are probably a safe bet for a low to mid boot engine same gap as normal. I would have thought tha BPR6ES's wold run a bit hot.

I use dot 4 brake fluid. I've never had a problem with it and it should be fine.

hope thios helps

about oil I have my own vision of the best:
I'm using full synthetic 15w50 motorbike oil.
very constent oil grade , special gear additives and no anti friction additive.

So fab, the motor bike synthetic will be OK to use in a Mini Gear Box?
