How long is a piece of string?

As your question, there is no definative answer.

You need to spend some time reading past posts in the site to gain knowledge.

My progress so far:

12g295 Cylinder Head = £20 (Bargain, the guy didnt know what he was selling)

Cossie 2wd intercooler = £15

Turbo carb = £30.00

Carb Rebuild Kit =£45.00

Correct Fuel Regulator = £15.00

Turbo Fuel Pump =£19.00

Renault 5 Garrett T2 =£60.00

Mirage Manifold and Metro Turbo Inlet =£300.00

Still got to sort out oil drain and feed, fuel pipes, head work to drop the C/R ('cause its been skimmed in the past) and intercooler pipework.

My experiance with a T3 and a 998 show a boost threshold around 4500rpm.

As for cost, if you know what you are doing and have lots of bits hanging around and know the right people and can do it ALL your self thyen £500 could get it running (assuming your engine is useable in the first place)

If you are missing any of the above cryteria then around £1500 to 2K is more realistic.

I'm up to 10K, but my car is splendid.

What Will said should be taken into account. (Though I thought power started climibing at 3k from his RR plot so I must be mistaken),

This is probably true in the taller gears that the RR plot was taken in, but ib 1st and 2nd it tends to be a bit higher.

Well we run a 4.1 with 13" wheels (the slicks make them a very tall wheel) and the minspares CR set which has a really tall 1st. When racing it works fine. We end up grabbibg 1st on a few corneres where the 1380 use 2nd as they run even lower diffs, butthey rev to 8K of course.

The standar ratios were horrible 2nd to 3rd as it seemd to take time to build boost again, with the CR set it's spot on.

Our max speed is around 100mph at 6500rpm. for a slighty compromised road/race setup I think a taller diff could still work.

that was a good indication of the parts mate, is really helpful for my turbo 998 project.is the intercooler optional then since the metro turbos didnt use intercoolers.is it just down to personal preference and how much boost you want if you choose to have an intercooler or not?
