I've just got hold of a standard 1275 mg metro engine. I've also got a T3 turbo and manifold.
Can i fit and run the turbo without lowering the compression or any head mods?
I understand all the other mods that need to be done.
This is just till funds grow and i can buy a set of pistons.
Thanks
Roland

yep, i thin.. youl need the rest of the turbo bits, and you wil need to keep the boost to <7psi.

asumeing its not a high compression engine like the MG.

shite.. jsut saw you have an MG engine, quite sure these run a higher CR..

you could always run the wastegate at standard settings which will show 4PSI of boost.

Normally aspirated MG Metro has a compression of 10.5-1, which is to high to run any real boost. Why not lower the compression by enlarging the chambers in the head, instead of buying pistons ? Then Turbo it.

Cheers guys.
Oh of course the head. Do i need to take it to a machine shop to get this done?
Do you have any idea how much to take out? (final CC in the head)
Could i also use a thicker gasket or is this a bit 'bodge'

No you can do it yourself it's relatively easy. How much you remove depends on what compression ratio your aiming for ?
I've heard of people using 2 head gaskets, but couldn't comment on its reliability.

Ok ok,
Do you think a 'black & decker' multi-tool would do the job?
If not What would you recomend?
thx
