Hi all,

I need to change the rocker cover gasket on, dare I mention it, my 1986 MG Metro Turbo.

Sorry if I'm being daft but is the rocker cover gasket any different to that used on other late A-Series engines? I've called a couple of Mini specialists and they've said use a Cooper S gasket.

Anybody know? Any help is much appreciated.

Cheers

Hey welcome Retro Turbo .Yes you can mention it.Stand proud that you own one .I own a RED 1990 MG metro turbo , completly std and i love it .As well as a mini turbo, so have fun with it.
There are a lot of people who still have them ,they are becoming rare so .......

This forum is for you to ask questions , as many as you like to keep it running or modify it.
Check your breathers are clear , whilest you are at it, with the rocker gasket.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the info and advice.

1071s, I noticed your location is Falmouth, Cornwall. I'm afraid to say about 10 years ago I studied at the college on Woodlane, so sorry for being one of the annoying students! I've gone back on occasion and I was surprised to see the Pirate pub had closed - I have fond memories of falling down the stairs while rather out of it! Shades will haunt me forever but it was quality for an eye-opening night out.

Anyway, if any of you are interested and fancy a laugh at my expense, my Turbo is in the workers' playtime feature in this month's Retro Cars. Complete with lovely rust.

Cheers
