i have had my chambers ground out by a local company.they recon that they have taken out about 2-3 cc's. so i was going to check using the cd case and oil in a syringe to work out the cc's.
1) what is the standard cc's in a standard turbo head?
2) when the oil is in the syringe (eg 5ml) is that 5 cc's?

also, im using standard pistons and if my chambers have gained an extra 3cc's what psi can i run?

cheers

If in Doubt, go flat out !!!

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

the company you chose does not seem to know what thay are doing?*frown*

right the standard cc in a 12g 940 head are 21.8cc

not sure 100% on the (point 8 could be 9?)

ML & CC are accrurate to the last sixth decimal point

for our purposes they are the same.*happy*

2 or 3 cc isnt much! your better aiming for a 28cc or 30 cc chamber in totall!

this with stock turbo pistons 1275 will give you a CR ratio of around 8.4:1 ish....

with an intercooler your looking at 12 to 14 psi of boost!
with out detonation. on optimax fuel

thats providing the fueling & ignition timing is optimised!*wink*

& most important of ALL
will the rest of the engine take it!

(ie) hope your not going to run those kind of boost figures on a 90 K clapped out motor *wink*

as it will only last around 30 seconds.

hope this helps you!

cheers benross *happy* the guy was recomended to me by a few friends who have had work done in the past but they were not turbo heads. i have put a ph2 cam in with new bearings, ultralight fly wheel, clutchtiming chain and lightened duplex gear,s/c box blah blah.... basicaly a good engine off a friend ( seems to be). there is no bore wear at all and turns over fine.

If in Doubt, go flat out !!!

after checking today i found out the results,

cylinder 1) 24.5cc's
cylinder 2) 25 cc's
cylinder 3) 23.6 cc's
cylinder 4) 23.7 cc's

there is not a lot over standard (21.8 cc's) so has this been a pointless exercise or can i add exta boost on this setup with standard pistons and this head. benross said 12-14 psi with 28-29cc's but what about my shit head?

cheers

If in Doubt, go flat out !!!

Agree with Pete, the difference from cyl to cyl is shocking!!

You need to get that properly sorted out.

I just cannot at all understand how you 're able to measure the chambers with such accuracy. With my equipment 0,5cc is the best I can do... Talking hundreds is bollox.
If the engine is less than 2litres, everything in between 0,5cc is OK. I guess some will disagree, but check your piston to top of the block next time it will vary more.

I agree, I also swap rods back and forth, but 0,5cc does indeed suffice.
