Well, I've got Friday & Monday booked off work so now have a 4 day stretch to work on the Mini :)

I'm going to fit 7x13 Superlites, Sportspack arches, Metro Turbo engine & brakes.

Just wanted to ask if anyone can think of anything they think I should be aware of before I start?

I know that I'll have to trim the wheelarches back to fit the 7x13. Is it ok to take a lip of 1/2 an inch off all the way round for this purpose, and then bend the edge out and flatten it?

I want to fit the Metro brake discs & callipers - I already have the brake line adaptors and know that I'll need to angleg-grind the wheel locator studs off the brake disc. Other than that they should just fit straight on, yes?

As for the engine, I basically have all the original Metro bits including the engine on a Metty subframe. I'm using the Mirage manifolds so other than fitting an extended top engine steady and utilising a R5 GTT T2 turbo (and plumbing that into the coolant system along with tapping in an oil feed) I intend to use the totally standard parts.

Am getting quite excited & nervous now!

I assume you're going to be fitting the metro brakes onto mini hubs? One of our cars had metro hubs and we had them changed to mini ones.

Yup. I've been told that the Metro callipers & discs will just fit straight onto the Mini bits and all I'll need is to angle grind the wheel-locating off and use a brake-line adaptor kit.

PS. Am gonna wire brush the brake discs first though to get rid of the rust!

You'll need ERA caliper bolts too :)

Otherwise I'd say your well on track!

Where can I get ERA calliper bolts from then?

Do I definitely need these calliper bolts? Won't the standard Mini ones or the standard Metro Turbo ones do the job?

Am having difficulty tracking down anyone who does them!

Minispares...

www.minispares.co.uk

The issue is that the thread into the hub is an imperial thread, but the caliper holes are metric...

LMAO. Like I said - wait for the news reports of a Mini doing 110 down the M61 with no wheels and engulfed in a ball of flame!
