We have a electricity board sub substation in one corner of our building at work, and at around 10.30am this morning something in there exploded, then there was a fire, the result being no power to us and we took out morrisons supermarket and several other business nearby as well.

For those in business who have never considered what you would do if you had no supply to your premises for an extended period, you might want to give it some thought.

We have a plan (of sorts) but this still a scary situation to be in

Whoo KABOOM!

We regularly blow things like this up at work, all good fun. We have a documented "DISASTER PLAN" for big incidents, which involves lots of people running about panicing with different coloured hard hats on, whilst the engineers sort the problem out.
However there is one potential disaster that I hope never happens, if it does I will not be attending to try and rectify it, I will be driving in the opposite direction as quickly as possible!

Last night I had to extinguish a fire, we had set all the boards on a scaffold on fire! Ended up going up in the air on a cherry picker with the fire hose to put it out!

our work lost power before. a BIG diesel genny was sitting outside within 2 hours and hooked up to the bit where the mains feed comes in and we were cool. every grill/toaster/vat etc is 3 phase and electric. the grills alone cost 2p/second to run(allegedly) and theres 4! if a car-sized genny could keep that load runnign fine it should be able to run just about anywhere tbo. imagine thre not cheap tho :)

turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)
