We have a electricity board sub substation in one corner of our building at work, and at around 10.30am this morning something in there exploded, then there was a fire, the result being no power to us and we took out morrisons supermarket and several other business nearby as well.

our work lost power before. a BIG diesel genny was sitting outside within 2 hours and hooked up to the bit where the mains feed comes in and we were cool. every grill/toaster/vat etc is 3 phase and electric. the grills alone cost 2p/second to run(allegedly) and theres 4! if a car-sized genny could keep that load runnign fine it should be able to run just about anywhere tbo. imagine thre not cheap tho :) turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)
