This might be a bit anorak but it is a good little experiment.

It is to demonstrate the importance and all round added value of an intercoolers pursose of cooling and therefore making the inlet charge denser..

KIT REQUIRED...

A 2 or 3litre empty plastic pop bottle complete with top.

A freezer...ie where your pies and oven chips live.

A lit gas ring/heater or something equaly very warm.

THE PRACTICAL...

Get you empty bottle and take the top off.

hold it over the gas hob/fire whatever with the top off and let it and the air inside heat up.

screw on the top tightly.

Then place the warmed plastic with said tightly screwed up top in the feezer while you nip down the boozer for 20 pints.

On your return, firstly have that "just got in from the boozer" power pi$$ then go to the freezer to see what has happened to your plastic bottle.

Hey presto!! the plastic bottle will all be shrunken down in size..

THUS PROVING...cold air is denser that hot air, no air will have escaped or got in to the bottle so the same amount of air and oxygen is still inside but more dense..

Johnny Ball live in fear of loosing your job to me!!

Would like to hear how you all got on!!!!!!

OFF YOU GO THEN........

LOL!!!!!

Another cool way is put a ballon in liquid nitrogen... the ballon shrinks and you can see the liquid oxygen in the bottom!!!
