At last i am getting around to sorting the megajolt set up onto the car. I am at the moment in the process of getting all the parts sourced. I went to the scrapyard yesterday and got the bits from a sierra. I got the EDIS unit, the coil pack and the crank sensor.

The only problem that i can't sort at the moment is that the EDIS unit that i have got has 11 wires going into it, but on the megajolt website the wiring diagram is showing 12 wires going into it. Are there different types of EDIS units and have i brought the wrong type? Can it still be used? What does everyone have on their cars, is there any one else that has a unit with only 11 wires and if so, how does it get wired up different.

Thanks and i hope that someone can help guide me in the right direction.

the missing wire is a tacho output on the edis module.

I'm using an 11 wire unit, but havent decided what to do about my tacho yet, If you unplug the edis plug and count the pins, you will see that the edis actually has all 12, its just the plug that has 11 wires.

I guess with a little work you could graft another wire on there somehow to enable a tacho output from the edis to be used...

You can feed the tacho from the low tension side of the coils, by combining the two feeds via 2 diodes. Works with older style tachos that need a high voltage kick to run them.

Details are on the megajolt site.

Thanks for all the replies, i am atleast glad that i have not brought something that i can't use. I do recall seeing something on the megajolt website gibbo, have you done this? Is it easy?

What has everyone done for the trigger wheel? I was going to try and make my own. Unless someone can tell me where there is a really cheap alternative.

if your like me and a bit of a spaz when it comes to machining you have 3 options

1. spend £130 on the KAD wheel (as i did)
2. spend several days searching trying to find a local company to machine your current pulley (as it did, with no luck)
3. PM tom fenton and send him your crank pulley for £35

I bought a pulley from Tom and it is perfect, def recommend.... and I'd rather give my money to someone who contributes a hell of a lot to this forum than to some company.

http://picasso.org/mjlj/?q=node/2 at botom of page shows the diode circuit.

I used a trigger wheel from a 1.8 CVH sierra, that you can leaver off, and bolt to the mini pully. But if tom can machine your pulley for that price then go for it!
Probably better harmonic balanced than what I've got.
