1.7 astra diesel turbo.....will it work?

hi

my dads mate is clearing his yard and he has a few bits and pieces for my turbo project!!
my dad said that im after a T2 turbo, and the his mate said that hes got a 1700cc astra turbo diesel which he recons may be the right size for a 1275 a series turbo conversion but didnt say what sort it is.
do you think it will work? does anyone know what turbo is fitted to a astra diesel?
ill have to go and have a look but i dont think i would be able to tell if it would fit, unless i actoly held it up and tried to fit it lol!!

The Turbo on these engines is tiny, i don't think it will be much use. The compressor is very small, i think it would run out of puff pretty soon.

josh look for something in the 35mm imlet size ,thats where the blades of the inlet wheel are as you look at the side of the turbo . regards robert.

im ideally going for a T2 but as a mates got a load of stuff to get rid of then i thought ill see what else may work etc.
he says hes got a standerd metro turbo head...somwere!! not sure weather to mod it yet though (i havent even seen it yet lol!!)
