Aswell as bare-metalling my boot floor, I had decided to run new fuel lines. Not that there was much wrong with my last lines (8mm steel, with EFI hoses at joins), but I'm going to be trying different things with the EFI project and one of the things is to try elevated fuel pressures...
I really didn't want to be putting 6-bar (potentially) of pressure through steel / rubber hose connections, secured with Jubilee clips. I also need a massive flow potential for the behemouth injectors aswell.

So, some 3/8" stainless tube, and a -6AN fittings will do the job from now on!

Not doing things by half, I naturally decided to run the tube over the top of the rear subframe; where it should be*wink*. I didn't want to run the risk of the bulky compression fittings being ripped off by speedbumps or whatever underneath the floor itself...

That stainless is a proper BITCH to work however; It's EXTREMELLY Rigid. My hands are really sore from using the forming tool.
End result though, is that i've got perfect fitting pipes - that I'll be securing to the underside with Insulated Steel P-Clips. Just a shame no-one will be able to see them! *frown**laughing**frown**laughing**frown**laughing**frown**laughing*

I'll be securing them once I've had the boot floor sprayed; then I can start on the front pipes from the toe-board to level with the bulkhead box (was too much hassle to run a full one-piece!!!)

that looks spanking dave, what gauge tubing did you end using?

the biggest i've worked by hand was with some 1/2 16SWG stainless before, the hand pipe benders were about 80cm long!!

Wow, cheers for the vote of confidence guys - You can't believe how long i've been putting this job off. Going back to the UK a few weeks ago has really given me a boost, and allowed me enthusiasm to do these pants jobs...

Will I make another set? - Sure! And I'll charge $40/hr. These only took me 8hrs to do from start to finish, so will be a relative bargain!

The Time isn't in the bending; it's in getting the roll of tube to be straight, and in laying out where the bends will be, and getting the lengths EXACT!
The bits over the subby was the hardest part of all - this had to be accurate to 2mm for full clearance.

Peter - No idea on UK supplier, but I got this from Summit Racing in the US for $30 (25ft roll).

I'll not be using a restrictor, as the fitting out of the pump is 1/4" ID - so this'll be the ultimate flow restrictor I guess, especially with the 8.2(ish) ID of the feed and return.

I'd imagine a straighforward way of making these if anyone was so inclined would be to copy the shape of the pipes the injection cars use.

I have actually used the injection pipe set up complete on my car, makes a mega neat job of it, especially as my shell is an injection shell, so has all the correct fixings underneath to allow the standard pipe brackets etc to all be used. I am not sure if the pipe sizes are going to be sufficient though, so I may end up going up a pipe size at some point.

the hose we use must be a lot heavier gauge as there is no way in the world you could coil it! it comes in straight lengths. Swagelok pipe i believe, the fittings definately are.
