Well, ever since I put my engine in the car, it has been pissing oil like Jon Flan after 15 pints.

Which particularly pissed me off, as I put in quite a lot of time and effort building it carefully with good quality sealer to try and make sure it didn't leak.

On dismantling another gearbox the other day, I realised there is supposed to be an o-ring between the diff side cover and back housing, which I had forgotten.

So today I have replaced that, and hey presto no oil leak!

Therefore my tip of the day is don't forget this when building your gearbox up!

common place tom , i just had to do mine but mine was because i used a slightly shorter bolt along with the exhaust bracket and it decided to strip the thread so had to remove the side cover fit new gasket and keep the bracket of , used a longer bolt which just had enough bite to pull it tight and it also stopped the leak.

any way it aint a mini if it doesnt leak and also if it doesnt leak we would be replacing front subframes instaed of the rear ones and the front baulk head would rot like a barsted lol.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

Yes, in the end it wasn't too bad as I needed to spend some time in that area fitting a support bracket and clamp for the downpipe, so that has been done at the same time as the oil leak. Another job crossed off the list!
