Hi im in the middle of building my 1040cc turbo and going to be putting it in in the next few weeks hopefully. Im using a T2 turbo with a mirage manifold.

My block is pocketed so i can use a 1275 head. My pistons have a slight dish in them and they are only a few thousand miles old. I was going to get my head chambers made a bit bigger (standard metro turbo head) is it worth it?

Will i be better off using a standard metro 1275 head instead and just giving it a quick refurb? Been reading and looks like this is the way to go.

Previous engine: STD metro turbo, megajolt

Check the compression with a standard 940 head. If pistons are almost flat, the compression will be sky high with a std head.

The compression is not sky high with a standard head and pockets, but we had the beake removed to get the compression down, and 7cc pistons. Took us to about 8:1. I think some chamber work will be needed if you want to run high boost.

I've just done a head for a friend, using 19cc head and 6cc pistons. (standard A ones) With the pistons 0,5mm down the bore, the compression is around the 9,5-10 IIRC. Using a 21,4 cc head (std 940) compression will still be over 9. I agree, this is not sky high, but possibly too high :)
