ha. i havent a clue how to use it so thats why i'm selling it! i thought originally about making a boot floor with some. then the door card idea came into my head. just havent got the time really or the resin! this is a bargain price by the way. the 500 quid price is cheap!

you may get more offers if you maybe sell it in a few lots, £200 is a lot for one person to shell out, if it was maybe 4 lots of £50 you may get more interest, just a thought.

if its kevlar you'll need more than courage , a pile of very sharp cutting implements would be best,
its an absolute bast--rd to cut. almost unshearable,

Yeah, I have tried to cut kevlar before. 2 cuts with a stanley knife blade and it is blunt. So you turn it round, 2 more cuts, both ends are blunt and its bin fodder!

You need a few things to produce a front end. Basically you need a mould, then you will need release wax to prevent the gel coat from sticking to the mould.
You then need to apply a gel coat which is what gives fibreglass/carbon fibre its glossy finish. For fibreglass most people apply pigment to it to give it colour but when you are working with carbon or kevlar people tend to leave it clear so you can see the weave.
You then need to lay the mat, in this case it will be kevlar up by applying resin to the gel coat and then placing the kevlar into the resin. You then need to work the resin into the kevlar and then roll out any bubbles with a special steel roller and then allow it to go off. To increase the strength you use more layers although with kevlar you shouldn't need too many layers.
When working with carbon or kevlar people tend to use autoclaves for it which is essentially a giant pressure cooker. This has the effect for ensuring the air bubbles are removed and you can get away with using less resin and therefore it is a load lighter.
You may ask how I know all this, well I have built a couple of fibreglass canoes and got the guy down at my local boat club to help me build a mould for a mini front end. I haven't actually got round to producing one yet!
Hope this helps
Sam
