Thinking about getting one after I had one on holiday in NZ. How do they rate? Looking at something like a 2.0L GLS, but i see there are some 2.0L Twin Turbo's too

I've had a couple. First was a 2.0 turbo and was bloody amazing and half the price of a similar Impreza.

Now I have a 2.5 GX (Lux) Estate. You can pick up a 2000 W like mine for around 6 to 6.5k, absolutly top spec.

Great for towing too, get around 30mpg.

i had a 350hp GT-B Wagon. It was fanastic. It ran 18psi of boost all the time and was great (apart from the fuel bill)

Caution !!!! Slippery when boosting

I had a Legacy turbo for a bit a couple of years ago. Great fun and at the time less than half the price of an impreza but nearly as fast.
However I tend to drive things quite hard and the fuel and tyres bill was starting to get horrendous, hence it got sold.

fuel bills, tyres, maintenance will be massive!

Reliability is good as with most Japanese stuff. Cambelts need doing to schedule but that goes for virtually any modern car really.
Parts can be on the expensive side IMO, but availability is pretty good.

My old turbo was faultless, I never had to change anything except brakes and tyres and a cambelt for 60k miles (and when I bought it it has 100k on the clock).

My current one has been slighty more costly, needed a new exhaust manifold (big fucking thing £200+ fitment), and also needed a new rear wheel bearing (£200 fitted, it's a big job).

I still love it though, and am saving up for a new 3.0 Spec B.

SHould be awsome cars

but not good on fuel as they are fairly heavy.

The turbos are only worse because you love the boost and the fact that off boost its essentially a low comp engine :(

Our hilclimber uses around 1 litre per mile, a mile usually takes around a minute, so I win.
