The glow plugs reading 12v don't mean anything,You need to disconnect them and make sure they are all taking a current. My glowplugs usually only last a year.

Yes agree with Dangerous. Most conclusive way to test them is to remove them and then connect up 12v and earth to them. They should glow red hot within a couple of seconds. If they don't glow at all they are knackered, definately.

You really need to check the current draw of the glow plugs...

Cheers guys. Right well i took all the plugs out-connected them all to earth and they glow red hot. (infact i started melting the rocker cover, oops). When it's warm it starts fine. Also runs fine. I havent got a diesel compression tester.

you should see 30-80 amps for about 20 seconds. 30 to 80amps? Maybe 40 A Max with all 4 plugs in series. Individually 6 to 10 amps per plug is more like it, as I can test the current draw using my multimeter fitted with a 15A fuse and it does not blow. If all the plugs are glowing and it isn't starting have you checked for an air leak somewhere? If the injector leak off pipes are split or a union leaking it will drag in air be difficult to start. Although I hate to say it but the small TU series diesel engines are well known for head gasket/piston ring/bore problems I am afraid.

When I googled it,A problem using non peagout fuel filters was mentioned ,as the non genuine ones let the fuel flow back to the tank

I think most motor factors will be able to supply you. Don't bother going to Peugeot, I tried to order some from them before, waste of time and effort and also they wanted to charge a fortune! Over time you will probably find they have gone hard, and so the barb on the pipe they push onto is not sealing any more.

Well i've just fitted new 'leak off' pipes. (£3.50 a meter :) ). I can see why an after market filter would cause a problem. I'll try and order one.
