The S rods are needed as the cam is different in an 8 port so that the big end does'nt hit the cam lopes.

tubular pushrods would easily be strong enough i reckon, obviously with hard ends.

Ive posted it on here for a m8. He's been adding up his bills n decided he has spent far too much on it so he cant afford to keep it.

Hi there this is my engine.
I like lots of noise and the smell of burning rubber and petrol... Is this normal? |

177 'S'con-rods are the only ones that will fit an 8port engine, as all others would hit the cam. An 8port has different timing to a 5porter. You don't have to run the S rods although everybody says you must!!! Chris's 8 port never had them and it was fine.????????? and the basic engine still is. We did however have to do some fine tuning to the corner of a rod bolt..
The guy with the titanium pushrods, haven't seen him in ages! Was a drag racer like Carl, very single minded machine, but road legal

Anyway, the 521 S rods will do just fine as well On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:

Ok, i should have said, only 177 'S' con-rods would fit my engine with my 296 cam. Different cams need different rods. We looked at taking a bit off the rod-bolt/rod, but it would have made it to weak for the amout that would have needed to be removed. I like lots of noise and the smell of burning rubber and petrol... Is this normal? |
