the speedo square inner cable on my metro is smaller than a mini so it don't turn ,as the drive on the gearbox is for the larger mini cable.

No mate, im pretty certain you can remove just the drive unit. IIRC there is a blot just below the cable connector that releases the unit.

Oh yes you undo the 10mm nut and it pulls out.

It is not up that far, undo the 3/8" head bolt, lift off the forked clamp, then you can pull the drive out.

it took me ages to work out they were different, i just thought i had a couple of bad cables |

i've had this problem a few times. metro ones tend to always be large, whereas mini ones smaller.

works now speedo pretty much as gear ratio calculator
