Hey all,

just dismanteled my 998cc engine today!
Im on with stripping the crank and pistons from the block now!
I seem to have three straps holding the crank to the block! is this normal, just one is in the center so i cant see how i could have a center strap put in? does some of the standard engines already have one? or has mine been dismanteled and machined already?

im confussed could someone shed some light?

thanks martin

Three straps?

Do you mean one at each end, and one in the middle? This is how it is supposed to be! If there were only one in the middle the crank would bend and flop all over the place.

The centre main strap goes over the centre main, to help make it stiffer.

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.
