Just been told that on my 998 turbo ill never get it to run on LPG because i wont have high compression, is that true?

Also if anyone knows about LPG instalations, the mixer was in the air filter intake (metal tube before the carb). If i was putting it on a NA mini i would just drill a hole into the same part and use an airbox, but im not going to be able to do this, should i be placing it behind the carb just before the plenum?

Im thinking that i might need to get a custom plenum made up, or some kind of spacer in between the carb and the plenum so that the mixer can be installed.

I didnt realise there was more than one on that page, this is the one i have.

Does anyone know, with the vaporisers it pumps in more gas the higher the vacuum gets, well what about when it comes on boost? will it stop?

Hi,

I doubt this'll work since this relies on vacuum, ie. the gas needs to be sucked out of the mixer by the engine. If you pressurize the intake with a turbo the gas will simply be pushed back in.
I have been thinking about using LPG on a turbo. If you want a mixer ring it needs to be before the turbo or it won't work, but this would mean a long way for the gas to go, especially if you use an intercooler. The alternative would be LPG injection I guess...

cheers,

no its not .

before the turbo ,run it rich to make sure you dont get a lewan backfire ,this with an intercooler could be a bit noisy ...i managed to blow my airbox lid off on my astra running the restrictor ring the wrong way round !!!

Im thinking that i might need to get a custom plenum made up, or some kind of spacer in between the carb and the plenum so that the mixer can be installed.

yep the boost would blow the lpg out not suck it in if your on the boost side with the mixer ,

one experiment iv done is to atmospheric reference the pressure diaphragm on the vapouriser body ,to stop the engine cutting out on coasting ,and when the fan comes on in traffic

,you could boost reference this and then put the ring in the boost side of the inlet ,
,it would be a experiment cos you still may not get enough density compensation cos the mixer is velocity reactive not density reactive ,bit like a carb ,but without the ease of tricking the float bowl and jetting for increased fuel flow at boost to cater for the density increase..

.then again ,you could very well take your boost signal for the vapouriser from the turbo outlet before any restriction ,and this would give you a increase in vapour pressure over the pressure seen in the mixer area and so increase the flow the more rpm you had ,as the restriction of the ic and so on became effective .

another thing you could try would be to have 2 adjusting taps to the the mixer ,in parallel, and have one on a solenoid valve that would click in at a set boost so give you more gas .

personally i think id run it through the turbo and ic and see what happened ,again stressing to run it rich at first to avoid a backfire ..(or chernobyl as its known ).oh and make sure you have a stonking strong spark,oh and remember your ign timing will nedd to be v diff to petrol.
