Ok, i was cleaning up my engine a bit yesterday and i noticed that there was a bit of silicone tubuing below the plenum chamber connected to a pipe underneath it. (in the picture below it is the pipe just under the number 7 of the lower picture)

Now i was wondering if it was possible to cut that pipe down to make room for a dump valve fitting kit in there (either using a t piece or cutting a hole in the silicone and running it through there) as this would be much easier than welding an alloy pipe onto the plenum chamber.

Can someone shed light onto this subject for me as i dont really know what i'm talking about but i just had a feeling in my head that it would be doable.

Thanks again guys :)

The outlet you discribe is too small. Usually people weld in a 25mm pipe for the DV.

On my car, I have connected the dumpvalve into the intercooler pipeing.

Others have fitted the 25mm pipe, by using chemical metal to make the join around the plenum, not sure how reliable that is though, cos I haven't done it myself.

Whynot phone a local engineering company for ally welding? Probably not that expensive.

how effective is the dump having it fitted to the intercooler piping ?
I was under the impression it should be as near to the plenum as possible for it to work the most efficiently

the dumpvalve needs to be as close to the carb butterfly valve as poss idealy, so on the plenum is best. Make sure you place it so it fits under the bonnet, unlike Avonbars first batch!.

The vacume small pipe needs to be as close to the pistons as poss so....a sipmple tap into the manifold will do it, often you can use the servo take off...

easy stuff realy...

Yeah your right, it should be as close to the butterfly as possible, on my car it is near the plenum, but not on it. Seems to work OK, but I'll probably get it welded, next time I rempve the plenum.

BTW, you also need to remove the existing over boost valve thingy, and blank it off.
