12g940 head, pocket the block, HIF38 from a metro and cooper freeflow exhaust. saw me pulling away from all the local 1275's. could have done with a cam swap though for a wee bit more go.
turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

As above I have a 1040 with a 12g940 head and a 276 cam. Last rollered at 48@wheels, but now it has an MG metro head and has done a 17 sec quarter. I guess 55-60 bhp @ wheels. http://www.twin-turbo.co.uk

how old are you? if you think insurance is bad now wait till you have a crash and you cant claim cos of your untold mods, i'd just use a 1275, insurance wont be bad on that. |

I can't comment on too many things - I ran a 1275 when i was 18 and had it down as a 998 on the insurance. Very naughty I know.
Now - if you want to do something, then get a quote on a box-stock 1275 from a metro HLE or somet - against a quote of a lightly modded 998 - By that I mean a stg1 kit. You can decide if you want to do other things like fit a MPi camshaft (or a kent 266 - almost the same thing - but MPi cam sounds much less 'sporty') or a modified head - or whatever. But do some research into the insurance prices first... On 17th Nov, 2014 Tom Fenton said:

Dont risk not telling the insurance company about any mods, its not worth it. Id go with TD's recomendations and get some quotes, i reckon the standard 1275 will be cheaper to insure than a modified 998 to achieve the same power. -MINI CLUBMAN 1380 TURBO- |
