Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

if the bearing is ok you can get away with this one by....

teasing the rollers out of the plastic cage then teasing the plastic cage off

then with a small puller remove the inner metal race off the shaft

the above saves you some money

plastic caged bearings vs metal caged is nothing to get wound up or excited about.

30+ years ago it was because the polymer technology wasn't aound - so metal caged were eveywhere.

Today - metal cages are generally only specc'd out when there is a temprature requirement that would compromise a plastic cage. Hence metal is used.

Bearings numbers are: 2/LRJ15.8 for the turbo (big) bearing (IIRC), and 1/LRJ15.8 for the 'normal' one...

Good Info Dave.

Just to add a little more:
2/LRJ15.8 is a 12-roller design; the 1/LRJ15.8 is an 11-roller

Not if you purchase from BSL (Bearing Services Limited) - more like £30...

Personally - I'll always use the larger bearing. AustinRover didn't do anything they didn't have/want to - so why did they go to the expense of tooling up and using another bearing?
I recall it has a significantly increased dynamic capacity - something like 25% over the 11-roller version.

Yes they can - if you use the normal (not quick) reply button - then the 'smileys' table appears. The button on the top RHS is insert piccie. Press this - then insert the hyperlink into the popup (turn off popupstopper) and away you go!
