Chaps, as we have some of the finest brains on this forum i thought i'd ask for your opinion.

Within the next 2 months i'm going to be changing my car (the leon not the mini)

So far i've decided on 3 contenders to replace it; An expensive option, a mid-range and a budget. Trying to decide if the difference in cost can really be justified. My criteria is this; Reasonably cheap to run (so not silly mpg), entertaining handling and not slow.

So far i've come up with this;

Civic Type R (nice, but will mean taking another loan)
Clio 172 (do i really trust a french car?)
mk3 golf 16v

Any opinions would be greatly appriciated.

Many thanks all. *happy*

The way you drive you may as well get a 1.0 litre Nissan Micra.....

To quote Sabine Scmitt "I can go faster in a van".

I must admit I don't really see why you are changing, do you just fancy something different etc? As I'd have thought the Leon will more or less do everything the other cars you mention will do?

I personally am not the biggest fan of the Civics, for me they are just too thrashy, personal opinion.

lol!!! It's so true! Watching a 1.0 micra steam past me with 2 blokes in crash helmets is a vision that will stay with me forever!!

Just getting a little tired of the leon, where it's chipped it munches petrol. It's pretty quick, but like you say, i don't drive fast that often (don't have the skills to pay the bills) *wink*

And no jon, i don't want to buy the micra.

Hmmm, none of the above - but that doesn't help.

would love a scoob, but not the fuel bill.

You can't leave me hanging like that nicky... give me an alternative option. Remember that forced induction is pretty much out as it drinks fuel, and diesels sound like they should be left on the farm... *wink*

How about a 'project' Civic Jordan? lol

Not sure, gimme some time and we'll chat tonight?
I'd go for a Mk2 valver but I prefer older cars and you have appeared to have chosen 'newer' cars up there (new in my opinion anyway).

A cheap end VR6?

VR6's are a bit thirsty I'd have thought? Same goes for a Subaru.

I'll have a very tidy original/standard 205 GTi 1.9 for sale in about a month or so.
