The oversills police

ive had most luck with welding the wings to the front (with correct gap for bonnet), and then putting this whole assembly onto the car, welding it to the inner wings, scuttle and a panels

The way I have done it many a time is to first attach the new a-panels, these can sometimes need a bit of bending to get the curvature going down the car correct. Then line these up with the sill seam, and get a nice even door gap, and weld on.

Then, with plenty of clamps to hand, replace your bonnet on its hinges, and then line up the wings and front panel to the bonnet and the a panels. A bit of juggling about may be required to get decent alignment all the way round but it is usually possible to get it pretty good without any major surgery.

Then weld it all on.
