How do you measure it,Do you measure the dia of the peak and take of the dia at 90 degrees(i.e. base circle size)

most people who do std rebuilds have a pile and choose the best, not that it helps you.

slick it in a block and use a dti gauge but saying that a new cam will show different lobe lifts any way.

The cam I have is only shinny on the tips the rest is black

ah yes i would say so, as long as all the lobes look nice and tipped with out any flat spots then a visual check sounds ok.

Yeah I did a cavalier one ages ago,where the followers arn't as wide as the lobes.
