ok no good at maths never will be but i know people on here are so how do i work out the deck volume in cc with out using a syringe and some paraffin cheers

That means for a 1293:

pi X 35,6 X 35,6 X whatever the deck height is in millimetres.

I do it a different way:

Firslty - ALWAYS work in CM to keep things simple. 10mm = 1cm.

FIRST - work out the area of the 'circle' (bore diameter)...


Formula is:
(PI * D^2 ) / 4


D^2 is caluculated either using the x2 button on your calc, or by D*D as Vegard said)

So,
Step1: (pi * d^2) /4


Step2: = (3.142 * d^2) /4


Step3: = (3.142 * 7.12^2) /4


Step4: = (3.142 * 50.694) /4



Step5: = (159.261) /4



Step 6: = 159.261 /4


Step 7: =39.81 cm^2



So that is the area of a disc 7.12 cm across.

To turn it into a volume, you multiply it by the depth.

(working in cm remember)

So, say we have 0.8mm deck height (top of piston to top of block is 0.8mm, then the height in cm is found by dividing this by 10.
Hence = 0.08cm.

To get the overall volume, we then multiply the area, by the height:



39.81 cm^2 * 0.08cm

= 3.18cm^3

As 1cm^3 (centimetre cubed) = 1cc, you can then re-write as 3.18cc.


Simple!

For finding out what dish volume you have - approximately...

just so im getting this right for that one if i had 1.5 mill of deck height above the piston it would work out as 5.96cc
