I need you guys to give me the boost i need to decide on a turbo build rather than a N/A build.

As i do not have the ability to run two cars once my mini is rebuilt i will be using it every day, traveling to and from work normally means i get stuck in traffic which is stop start alot of the time or slow moving traffic.

The plan is for a 1293 t2 turbo on the mirrage manifold with an intercooler, the bottom end will have a SCCR box and drop gears, 4 pin diff and a 2.95 ratio. The plan is that ill be more than happy with 120bhp, if im below ill still be as happy. (Dont have a full spec yet thats for a later date)

I was wondering how many people use a turbo mini/metro as a daily drive and how does it cope in traffic jams, slow moving traffic etc and will it be good to drive every day, start fine etc.

Any advice you can give me will be helpfull.

Thanks

i drive mine to work everyday running around 120 banana's. the only thing i'd personally advise against is running a grey diaphragm, i've learnt to be quick on the clutch now and never sit on it in traffic. it stays in neutral for as long as possible!

i've got an incar bleed valve so i close that off most of the time and just run the 4psi from the actuator, when i want to give it some beans then i just open it up.

Ahh rite, seen the RR topic you posted awhile back, quite a good figure for a daily drive, what clutch would you say to use?

How far do you get on a tank full?

i'd say go with an orange and see if that takes it, or a turbo verto jobby. my verto only lasted a month and 1 day at avon park though when it was running 120lb/ft.

no idea on the mpg cos i haven't got a speedo, mind you my carb is in desperate need of a rebuild cos its drinking fuel at the minute.

Got a standard mg 1275 one ready for the engine so i guess ill have to get a new one, doesnt bother me though.

Sounding like a viable idea to me.
