Does this mean the turbo needs a rebuild? I have a kit ready to use, but if its something else, i wont bother.. :)

i recon its more like valve guides mate, jack the front of the car up then run it again if it stops then here is your prob

yes but what guides are you using, iron ones on a high lift cam and 1.5's wont last two minutes.

i have had the odd bronze one as well which had to much clearance after fitting which can cause problems on the inlet side.

this is the normall cause of your problem but it still may be the turbo but look here first

no idea. its only running a MG Metro cam. Alex says my car smokes on gear changes earlier, so i'm looking at the turbo more now to be honest.

Get some more miles on it first, then if it is still smoking then look towards the turbo IMO.....

i wouldn't worry to much, keep the oil at the normal level and check regular
also keep the revs over 1500:cool:

could be sump nut well spotted, i use 80 or 90 weight gear oil and you only need to fill it half up the inner bore not upto the top like some people do.
