Right, while i an doing a major overhaul of the body (here ) I have been considering fitting a bulkead box just in the event that i may fit a carb turbo at some point in the distand future. The thing that has realy been putting me off is the amount of butchering required and the main reason ( some may think silly) the heater assembly sticks further out. Did not check the link, but I think you can get away without putting in a box even using a standard metro turbo exhaust manifold. I put in a box, but I also drilled the motor mounting holes in the subframe about 1" further forward. Of course, I had to move the shift linkage an equal distance forward, and I had to lengthen the dogbone engine steady, but looking back at the firewall, I don't think I needed to put the box in!

I wouldn't bother, it's a lot of work for nothing if you're not fitting a turbo. Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

I would not bother either. Once you have the K1100 working, do you think you will ever go back to a 5 porter? http://www.twin-turbo.co.uk

Moving the engine forward an inch really will not give the clearance required when using a standard metro turbo setup.

Just so people know the 92 on sub frames already have the engine moved aboit 1/2 inch further forward from the factory and space is alreadt limited at the front

I didnt really have a problem with the heater, just moved one bracket a little and with a few zip ties the heater looks nearly factory fitted, hope this helps. |

on deciding whether to or not. Pictures of how much the heater sticks out when refitted (and i dont want to know that its easier to leave it out, I want heat in the winter).
