Hi all, picked up a mini 30 yest. It's a nice car, but there's a few things i'd like to sort before newquay.

First, when it's been run up really warm it won't idle. I have a spare HIF38 (or is it 36, i can never remember) to put on it, but i don't know if that's any good either, so don't really want to do that before newquay.

It runs really well, and pulls nicely (well, for a 998) so i think the fueling is fine.

Could it just be that the idle speed needs to be increased? If so, how do i do that?

Also the handling feels a little soggy. It's got hi-los and decent shocks, had all the tie rods changed recently. I've had a look at the top mounts on the front subby and they look new too. Tried looking at the other mounts but couldn't get it high enough in the air. What else could it be?

Any help would be hugely appriciated as i'd like to get to newquay in less than 12 hours and without any grazed knuckles. *wink* Thanks all. :)

Check front subframe floor mounts, also front teardrop mounts.

Then check bottom arm bushes.

All of the above can be uprated with good results.

teardrop is the one about the suspension cone isn't it? and are the floor mounts the ones that bolt to the floorpan? I'd like to solid mount everything really. Might pick up the bits at the show...

Alex, good call on the tyres pressures, haven't checked. And i don't have a haynes at my house. Does anyone have a basic online guide to the HS carbs, just to raise the idle?

Increasing the idle is done by removing the airbox, there is a cross head screw head you can see from directly above the carb, front radiator side if my memory is correct.

It is pretty obvious really if you have a look, the end of the screw winds onto a lever connected to the throttle spindle, so by screwing it in you open the butterfly inside the carb a touch more.

Have a look, you ought to be able to figure it out TBH.

Realistically, theres no way i'm going to be able to order, take delivery of and fit a solid subframe mount kit before 9am sat is there... A job for next weekend i think.

Depends if you order it today for next day delivery, and then fit it tomorrow/friday night.

Anything is possible, it just depends how determined you are!

The answer to that dilemma? DON'T USE MINISPORT THEY ARE FUCKING SHITE!

Try Minits 01564 783045

Or a lot of people rate DSN Classics, I have not used them personally though.
