just use avgas if you can get hold of it. Its leaded and has a minimum octane of 100. The stuff i am using is 105

Caution !!!! Slippery when boosting

yes it is true that avgas burns slower. It is the same with all higher octane fuels. It also burns alot cleaner and smells so beautiful. if you can get hold of it military avgas has an octane rating of 135

Caution !!!! Slippery when boosting

It will be fine. Remember avgas is leaded tho. It will make your engine run cleaner, prevent detation, it burns slighty slower but contains more energy. It also makes you exhaust pipe a lovely grey colour and makes fuel leaks easy to spot due to the green dye in it.

Caution !!!! Slippery when boosting

In basic terms (which is as much as I know) the higher octane you have the more boost you can run.

So ,if you stick high octane fuel in any car and make no adjustments (and the ECU is limited in what it can adjust) then you'll see little differance. But the beauty of our turbo cars is that we can wind up the boost safely and make full use of the slower burn time.

Cheating buggers the lot of you. LOL!

I remember the days when guys drove to Avon, filled up with regular fuel, even had trolley jacks in the boot, and still took class D.

*tongue*

Just remember that tetraboost, avgas etc with lead in it will destroy lambda sensors so remove them for race use with leaded :)

will it actually damage the lamba sensor, or just give inacurate readings?

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

pretty sure it overheats them and damages them for good.

Could be wrong!

I'm just going to use pump fuel, makes life easier!!

unfortunatly lead does affect your lamba sensor and also O2 sesnors. Otherwise i wold be running it all my cars. Its a bugger but you can't always win

yep - it 'coats' the sensor. Doesn't kill it immediately; and you could certainly tolerate it on a narrow-band, and just swap it out for a scrappy one...

But you don't want to run it on your expensive WB sensor...

Sounds a stupid question but where can you get avgas fuel from and will most places sell it to you tax free. e.g off road running like for the track and drag strip
