Hello,

I know the diameter of the restrictor ring, but has anyone got the length of it?

I want to make up my own plenum, and I don't have an original for reference.

Thanks,

Andy

What if you cant get an original plenum because some evil bastards are holding them for ransome in their sheds!!!!!!

Iain, thanks- I did check that thread before posting. It tells me the diameter, but not the other dimensions of the tube however.

According to what was written, making the plate the correct diameter gets you 80-90% of the way there, but can make make tuning a little more tricky. Well that's the gist of what I got, anyhow.

Benross- Okay I'll take your advice and try and source a standard plenum.

At the very least it'll give me a guide to reverse engineer my own- then I can always flog it on.

I'm a similar situation.. any help? Don't mind the hassle of making one, just need the dimensions etc. of the standard one to try fab one myself.

I understand where andymini is coming from, even though nic's are proven and of great quality, i got a real buz out of making my own, i can try put up the drawing i made of the origional plenum if people are interested but i havnt tested my plenum and cant prove the quality of the drawing, so u might just be better off using nics!

clubby_turbo, I'd appreciate it.

I've brought a thing or two off ebay.co.uk and the yank ebay before, but its just not worth the hassle as I'm from South Africa, and getting stuff half way across the world it like pulling teeth from those ebay sellers. Got connections to do stainless and ally welding for free. so thats not a problem and often do the reverse engineer thing on parts. Also with the exchange rate, its a killer.

I went into work and had a look at the drawing but its on autoCAD and i doubt i could dimension it clear enough for a PDF. I made my drawing from an origional plenum i baught off a member on this site for a very good price and had it on my door step in AUS, less than 2 weeks later... i then spent 2 months making drawings, welding, measuring and cutting to get the plenum chamber i hav now, and i dont even know if it will work! From experience i'd say your better off buying one from nic. I'll sit down with my old man next week and try figure out a way to post the drawing but i cant promise anything. :)

Thanks for the heads up Chris.

Just need to get my act together now, crack ahead and finish this project. Its my second car, so cant convince myself why NOT to turbo it. Collected my megajolt system and all, but keep getting sidetrack on tangents such as just dumping the carb and possibly going the EFI route. Its an endless pit of cash I tell you. Still interested in the plenum dimensions if you can get them up some time.
