Hi folks!

There is some information on oil pumps I collected because of (fab's) interest and my disappointment of a "hand selected" Turbo oil pump from a big Miniparts supplier:

Oil Pump Comparison:
Or. Turbo Superflow Minispeed MSC MSC
(Avonbar)

Type Turbo Turbo Turbo Non Turbo Non Turbo
Rotor Dia 44mm 56mm 57mm 55mm 52mm
Rot Height 21mm 18mm 18mm 14mm 14mm
Back plate Alu Steel Alu Steel Alu

I aslo made some pictures of the pumps and send them to Dave to make a comment on their design. My impression on the Powerflow pump design was very good.
I can't support data from the MSC Turbo oil pump at the moment, because it went into my waste bin after "testing " it in my engine.
I think Dave could help out here with his engineer knowledge to enlighten the topic?!
I can't post pictures; maybe Dave will.
Cheers
Harry

PS: Take care of the heart of your engine!

Jim , picies are in your mail;
harry's work shown that mety turbo genuine oil pump have good casting/machining but 44 mm rotor diameter and 21 mm larger/ instead of 59 mm for the minispare , and 58 for the powerflow /avonbar selled one ,
the fact is that ater been looked by dave and Harry ( green throuser............. :) ,ouarfffffff sorry dave) show lot of play and bad casting on the Ms oil pump, and good play , good casting for teh poweflow one, mainly because te power one have an anti pulse groove and better machining /casting finished by hand , as NOT the MS ones

Best 1/4 mile 13.2 seconds @116 mph
First 5 port miniturbo to make over 200 bhp on a carb?

Yes, the origin Metty Turbo pump has a rubber seal. Nice detail! I also didn't notice that there are so many differences in pump design until I had a closer look.

we can "tell " that the powerflow one is an improved mety turbo item , good quality , casting debured, (no grit inside, don't laugh some others "hand sellected" oil pumps can have .....), it have an improved rotor diameter, which will not increase the pressure , but will increase the oil flow ( gpm), with less pulse effect, harry also point that it have a little passage between the two side of the pump (pump and pressure one), this after Dave analisys is to reduce the pulse effect of the pump and show a very well designed , thinked, oil pump. my last OWN words are :
this is far from the ms turbo oil pump design, with undebured casting, which can sometimes have (not intel inside) but GRIT inside , and out of play tolerance new from the box.
thanks guys to help finding a good source of HEARTS/ blood pumps, for hour pricey lumps.

Don't know what more to add, Harry and Fab have done a good job here. My 'old' minispares pump (about 4500 miles) is scrap as far asi'm concerned, far too much play in it.
The Avonbar one is a well thought out, and developed pump, just like the original HolburnEaton (HE) pump was. The only downside is the weight of it - a 1/4" thick steel backplate is the cause...

Put it this way - the only pumps i would purchase are the Holburn-Eaton (HE) pump, or the Avonbar one. The 'pukka' HE pump is no longer available.....
