Fastest A Series Mini in the World

leeds/wakefield.

out at york last weekend, for more fun,
the things i ahve changed with the car since last year are .

taller FDs now usung 3.44 from 3.9s.
reengineered the gear linkages, using precision joints throughout, as it was always dodgy before ,
lowered the rear engind to allow a better path for gear selection rod ,
rebuilt both engines, both were plain worn out.

nowq those who would listern to my rambling of past will remember i had probs selecting 1st and 3rd , due to the general linkage layout, [see above],

now with that sorted and all four cogs readily available at the mearest flick of the wrist i was hoping for better thing,

run 1 on petrol, ,ran 12.9 @ 103mph, on a 1.986 sixty ft,
not bad but not the best ,due to lots of timing being taken out foe the gas.
run2,on gas .50hp into each ,
i used a 2ng gear launch, although a bit apprahensive about its ability to pull the now longer gear from stanstill,i needn't have worried,took of like a goodun, 1.9 sixty ft. over the line in 11.339 secs @123.6 mph.
i was reasonably happy with that untill i checked the bottle preasures anly to find them at 600lbs, at least 300 less than they should be as the systems are bjetted for abottle preasure of 900 to 1000lbs, so the fuel side was running very rich, even better news if you looka t it in a strange way, as usually the engines badly underperform when running rich .
so run 3 , same n2o setting as before , but ar 3/3 track i felt a big loss of motion, so aborted,
at the time couldn;t work it out so checked the usual suspects, [plugs ] all was well so tried again, and this time the loss of power came a little bit sooner in the run,Aha, i think ,out of gas,

but i shouldn't be as thyey were only just filled ,
somehow i'd lost nearly 60% of my gas between filling and using ,

its still a mystery ish. but i did leave the bottles open for a few days after the easter outing so may had seeped then,
any way the top and bottom of it is , i can use 3rd gear with ease , and have been using it to carry me to the 1/8th ,instead of using top .and its a lot more lively i'll say, but for the low ambient temps and no sodding gas left i'm sure i would have gone a fair bit better,
i have the bottles refilled now and boostred to 1000 lbs with nitrogen , so all i need now is a warm day and some traction and i will be giving it the beens .

rollon the next outing whenever that is,lol.
