Ive started stripping my gearbox for a rebuild and removed the diff and counted the FD. I calculated 3.44:1 but i thought the turbo box had a 3.2:1 FD or am i wrong?

some gearboxs (A+ i think...prob wrong though) have a notch along middle of the teeth of one of the cogs.

All A+ gear sets are destinguised with a notch on the tip of each teeth on at least one of the gear pairs On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:
Is it A-Series only? I think it should be... So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'... On 26th Oct, 2004 Tom Fenton said:

ok on refering to the haynes manual it is the straight cut gears attached to the 1st and 2nd gear that the synchro sleeve slots into. they are about 3-4mm wide. Basically most the teeth are mashed off, so am i right in thinking that the gearbox is past it!!

How readily available are replacement gears and gear sets or will it be easier to try source another A+ box and start fresh? Thanks for all your input Dan The gears you refer to are not gears but the synchro engagement teeth. They are not supposed to look like a gear, TAKE US SOME PICTURES and we can give you a much better opinion!
