Ive started stripping my gearbox for a rebuild and removed the diff and counted the FD. I calculated 3.44:1 but i thought the turbo box had a 3.2:1 FD or am i wrong?

on one of two of the big gears (dont knwo which is which) there is a bit of kink in everytooth as if something has rubbed on the gear as it has been spinning and worn away at it abit. If anyone can understand the above would this require a new gear set?

Once i find my digi cam ill take a pic and post pics of it as also on the tiny thin gears next to the baulk rings most the teeth are mashed off aswell so its not looking good!!!!

Seriously - consult a haynes manual for the correct description of the parts you're describing, and/or pics...

some gearboxs (A+ i think...prob wrong though) have a notch along middle of the teeth of one of the cogs.

the turbo box should have a 3.2:1 diff, and a larger diameter nose bearing, dont know the measurements off hand.

All A+ gear sets are destinguised with a notch on the tip of each teeth on at least one of the gear pairs

ok on refering to the haynes manual it is the straight cut gears attached to the 1st and 2nd gear that the synchro sleeve slots into. they are about 3-4mm wide. Basically most the teeth are mashed off, so am i right in thinking that the gearbox is past it!!

How readily available are replacement gears and gear sets or will it be easier to try source another A+ box and start fresh?

The gears you refer to are not gears but the synchro engagement teeth. They are not supposed to look like a gear, TAKE US SOME PICTURES and we can give you a much better opinion!
