 Hi folks ?

What?s the easiest way to fit an intercooler to a round-nose turbo Mini? I?m looking at buying one of those pipes from ebay guy mini200 (or whatever his name is) so what?s the best intercooler to use that?ll need the least farting around to fit?

Better warn u ? am a total newbie to all this so please explain in idiot-proof language! *wink*

Ta!

My sister is so fit I won't show anyone her picture

A few people have used the Series 2 RS Turbo one. This is a fairly compact and effective unit. They are also fairly cheap and easy to come accross.
This would be a good starting point.

are they worth having them? i think the item is named *plenum pipe 4 intercooler* they always seem to go for quite a bit of money, i never knew if they were neccassary or not. I have a series 2 RS turbo intercooler ready to be fitted.... bought it off a mate for a fiver when he got a new pace intercooler

So if I buy one of his pipes will a series 2 Escort RS Turbo intercooler fit ok? It looks pretty big to fit into a roundnose Mini engine bay!!

its not that big Jim. Its about 6"x10"x3", plus obviously the extensions to fit the piping

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Whether you get one of those off him or not the work to fit the intercooler will be the same, just give it a go and see what you can squeeze in :)

So who can provide the pipework needed, and at what cost?

Anywhere really. depends what you fancy doing. It can be made from steel pipes and silicon hoses, renault 5 turbo hosing can be used or just hunt the scrappy for hoses that fit. Its difficult to provide hoses as you may mount it slightly different to someone else or having something in the way. Its a pretty individual thing. :)

take a look in "show me yours" under "turbo van" as mines in there showing how my intercooler is plumbed in. It just had the elbow cut off the plenum and the hoses mounted to the remaining bit.
