Can someone please give me some paint advice.

I'm about to put the top coat on my lads Mini 30.

It's a Cherry Red, Pearl paint code COG.

My local paint supplier says that this can only be done in a polyester type paint.

He says that it will be safe to use with a normal mask.

We are going to put celly laquer on top.

Anyone had any experience of this polyester paint?

Help appreciated.

Sorry, didn't make myself clear.

I'm trying to get the basecoat in a cellulose if possible.

I don't think the pearl type colours are available in cellulose to be honest. I'd also advise against using cellulose lacquer as well, in my experience it tends to go "yellow" and is not as durable as 2 pack lacquer.

I have an air fed mask you can borrow but you'd have to collect it, at present my dad has borrowed it so it is near Birmingham.

Thanks Tom.

I've also got the wifes 35 to do which is Nevada Red pearl, presumably same problem, so I will get an air fed mask. Thanks for the offer.

It's getting bloody expensive. £160 for 3 litres of paint, laquer and thinners - and he has got to pay for it out of his paper-round money!
