|As far as i know , you could just put it on a ferry and drive it off the other end ,and on to Slovenia, then just register it there with your authoroties.

In the past, the current owner had to go to his local licensing office (or snail-mail via the DVLA) and apply for an export cetificate.

if you are picking up the car yourself, i cannot understand what paperwork he needed to do, he simply sells the car to you and fills in the ownership details as exported,
