Hi,

turbomini forum is the only english forum which i check several times per day. so i it is the best place to ask this question:
i am going to buy and pick up a car from GB and import it for my friend to Slovenia (eu country).

the seller said that i needed two days to arrange all the papers. is that true?
what papers do i need? what does the seller have to do? do i have to pay attention to any details?
any advice would be helpful.

leeds/wakefield.

|As far as i know , you could just put it on a ferry and drive it off the other end ,and on to Slovenia, then just register it there with your authoroties.
all the seller has to do is inform our authorites its has been permanently exported.

In the past, the current owner had to go to his local licensing office (or snail-mail via the DVLA) and apply for an export cetificate.
If the V5 (registration document) is the 'latest spec' (V5C i believe) he doesn't even need to do this however, as there is a section on the back saying it's been permanently exported.

The DVLA are actually very helpfull over the phone. if you google 'dvla', you'll find a phone number that you can call and ask all your questions, and get 100% accurate answers.

if you are picking up the car yourself, i cannot understand what paperwork he needed to do, he simply sells the car to you and fills in the ownership details as exported,
you will need to insure the car in your own country explaining what you are doing with regards to collecting it from the UK,
then pay the man and drive it on a ferry, take it home and contact your relevent authoraties.
yoyu should be given the V5 ,[keepers document] keep this as proof of ownership, along with a receipt for the purchase for when you get it back home, will you not be able to keep the origional registration plates??.or do they issue new one in you country?

Hi,
just quick news about my importnig.
today was the day for picking up the car....... but i am still in my country.
why?
just before payment (200) pounds in advance for the car i found out at police station that the document from selling car were not correct.
the seller sent me a copy of car documents but they were fake. they were from another car....... we phoned a seller to ask if he is joking and he said that car is sold a few hours ago.

but this car is still for sale and on the internet.

check this link...... if you write to saller (he is very kind) and will tell you same story.... that he wants some money in advance to arrange the papers and so one..... and if you do not like car than he will return you all money....

a friend who wanted to buy the car already bought tickets for the flight..... so he lost a few hundret euros. that was good lesson!

thank you for advice anyway.
Gregor
PS: sorry becouse my english is poor.
