Spring thaw coming though I hope. The lads are plowing Trail Ridge Road, hope I've got my Mini back before it's open.

My two-box RC40 resting against the wall

Oil lines are run, boost pipes are in (though I only saw it from the bottom). Fuel system left to do, including wiring the circuit that will drive both fuel and oil pumps.

Four weeks Wednesday...

The hot rod is a Ford Model A pickup body powered by a Honda S2000 drivetrain. Severely lowered too. These guys bought 3 or 4 wrecked S2000s for parts. Apparently a fair number of them are experiencing offroad adventures.

Unfortunately the hot rod isn't mine, it's just a project that was in the shop and caught my eye for some photos.
My other vice is a couple of old Corvettes ('67 and '54). The '54 is my wife's car, stock except for electronic ignition. Mine has a dual four-barrel crossram intake, headers, big cam, ported heads.

I'd seriously think about lagging the pipe from the ehaust manifold to the turbo, that will keep the gasses hotter and therefore quicker to run the turbine.

Different!

Lagging? Is that the same as insulating? I'm probably going to use some of the insulating exhaust wrap I have lying around.

Lagging, yes exhaust wrap, it is quite amazing how much t would cool along that length.

Quite a few americans use this sort of setup, on corvettes and what-not. looks cool, not seen it used on a mini before!

Just came across this thread whilst searching.
Gotta say i love these type of installs, only recently came across this sorta thing, first one i saw was the hillclimb 205 gti that was featured in PPC magazine with a turbo muffler.

Someone should try twin turboing a mini like this *tongue*

would that not create quite alot of back pressure which shurely would not be too good for the first turbo?

i had a little idea of twin turboing a K headed engine a little while back. going down the route that the inline 6 cylinder supras etc go, ie splittling so as that 3 cylinders run each turbo.

but i dont think that the two cylinders on a mini would have enough puff to push a big enough turbo to make it worth while.

and there isnt any need really when you have the likes og the gt series turbo's around, fast spool, efficient, high boost. Why go with the extra complexity...

i do love the back door turbo set-up tho, very good.

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Yer it probably would cause alot of backpressure, specially with them being so far apart.

Warwick.

i wouldnt think thats twin turboed because can see the "Y" piece from the LCB, just the one then, but i would also have thought there would be rather alot of wait time

this is an interesting setup however i cant see any advantages, only disadvantages, does it not make the turbo super laggy? is there a picture of the back of the engine around the carb/ engine bay :)

sorry i have thought of 2, it looks cool and its different*wink* lol

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

Looks like marcus is tempted to do this on his baremetal racer too :)
