When reading this compressor map for an Eaton M45 charger...

Do the lines represent just air flow or does it included boost?

There are two lines, but what sort of VE are they working on?

Surely they represent boost as a result of the airflow, given the type of supercharger design it is?

The Eaton type superchargers are all positive displacement machines. I think they are spiral vane type rootes etc.

They have a very high volumetric efficiency. The two lines represent flow as a result of speed at 5 or 10 psi boost.

You will need to calculate your required airflow at your required boost, that will then give you a speed for the blower.

You will have to estimate lines for other than 5 or 10 psi boost.

You can overspeed them to 18k, but watch that efficiency dissapear... Put another way - there is a reason the lines stop at 14k.

I think the adiabatic efficiency is only 60%, ie 40% of the shaft power turns into heat.

But I think the volumetric efficiency is high.

I might be wrong though.
