just got back from mikeanics rolling road (the one wil and ben h use) and pretty pleased.

167.3 bananas @ 5295 rpm
177.9 curley whirleys @ 4112 rpm

spec;
1293 with 18cc avonbar/accralite forgded pistons.
phase 2 cam
standard head with 1.3 roller rockers
cozzy intercooler
megajolt ignition
standard t3 turbo
sccr gears and 4 pin diff

rolling road guy said its running about 20psi with no signs of det.
dont ask me my compression ratio as ive not worked it out (doh)

so im pretty happy and if it dont blow up anytime soon ive still got a few mods i can do in the future.

so what do you all think is this a good result? (be honest)

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

That pretty impressive. The torque at the rpm just proves how good turbo engines can be.

its £50 for the first hour and £35 an hour after that, he charged me £141 and fitted new spark plugs as well, he said it took him longer because i didnt know my comp ratio so he had to increase boost bit by bit listening for det. dont know if this is a good price but im happy.
he went out in it and i think is was as buzzin about it as i am lol

Excellent result! And especially considering it is using a standard cyl head! Great stuff!

In fact you need to update your signature, as you certainly have the power now!

Please post the power and torque numbers at the wheels. Since the correction factors that get applied to estimate flywheel power vary so much, it is only wheel results that can be compared.

In fact, I have a suggestion: can we get something set up where there is a form to enter dyno results and a box enter notes about the combo? This would make a very useful searchable database for folks figuring out what they want to build. I'd like it to have spots to enter the wheel numbers as well as the flywheel estimated numbers. Yes, I know some dynos have coastdown that is supposed to give you accurate parasitic loss numbers, but many do not and I do not trust the results anyway. Wheel to wheel you can compare. Sorry for the hijack.

Terrific Results!

Ouch. Excuse me. I shall refrain from trying to remove a fudge factor in the future.

I am aware that there are still differences, but you are much closer to comparable numbers without the phantom conversion factor to flywheel.

Jon, I bow before your knowledge and aggression. Fifteen posts now. How many before I am allowed to make a suggestion?

Carl, I apologize if my post offended in any way.

I think the point JF was trying to make was that we deliberately refer to horsepower figures as the fictional "bananas" on this site, as everyone knows that rolling road dynos do not give directly comparable results.

At the end of the day, all the bhp figure is really good for is bar room bragging, it is more down to how the engine performs, how it delivers the power, and how it serves its intended purpose that is more important IMO.

I've always found that Mikes rollers gove reasonable flywheel figures. For example my 998 with a 295 head and metro cam gave 60 bananas, which is pretty average for that spec. My mates Imp gave 100 bananas on mikes rollers, again what was expected and has been measured before on other rollers.

He does a 'run-down' test so the rollers measure the losses, so at least it's a specific fudge factor.

edit: oh yeah, fab result Carl, I was goint to invite you round for a cupper afterwards, but I've been on holiday.

Great stuff mate, well done. Sounds a good engine spec and good power considering your using a standard head.
