Just found this on ebay:

Looking at my carb, the dash pot is secured on with normal machine screws, just like a NA carb. Should there be special fasteners and if so what's the difference / benifit?

ooh interesting, but you dont need it, some carbs i presume were meant to be tamper proof so they put these on, but normal screws do the same trick and are much easier to find suitable implements to get it apart with

Looks more to me like the tool for the 4 screws that hold the float chamber bottom cover on?

I have not seen a dashpot secured with these before?

i'd got my eye on that socket, save me having to cut a slot into the float chamber ones..lol

i used some wire crimpers to undo them....

IMHO its a waste of money

remove the screws and then junk them

but firstley go to your local nut and bolt supplier and get some suitable replacements cap headed if possible (job done) for ever

i agree with tom.

I reckon its just the tool for the NA float chamber and someones trying to pass it off as a metro turbo tool to get a few extra 壣

all my dashpot and float chamber were allen heads with little ally caps in them that i had to pry out with a small screwdriver.

All SU Carbs for turbo applications left the factory with the anti tamper type screws on the dashpot as well as the float chamber.
