Recently gave my engine to Ian Johnson for him to rebuild it. He got round to looking at it today, and asked me to call round

Turns out, 3 of the con rods are lightened, one is standard, mains and bigends are shot, as are the thrusts, but most importantly the block center web is out of alignment/warped. The crank will not spin once the main cap is attached.

The good news is he has a spare block for me to use. guess it's going to be even longer til i get it back on the road and cost even more money.

I once opened up 3 998s before I found one with an intact centre cap (I'e' not broken in 2 or wrecked by the thrusts) it's not economic to get another cap and line bore them (yet!)
