I've been welding up the min as rust had set in on the inner wings around the vents and the scuttle was toast. I set about repairing it and ended up replacing the stiffener panel behind the a-panel. All my work uptill then was welding with CO2 and i was getting used to it, i think.

That bottle ran out yesterday and i switched to CO2/Argon mix which seems to be completely different. For a start im finding im blowing holes in the pannels, whereas before i wasnt. Seems to be a LOT more heat generated and a lot less spatter? Is this typical?

The thing im most worried about is strength of the welds, which i tested before on some old panels. But now im worried that there are too many welds which dont seem to have penetrated and have brown deposits surrounding them. I'll get some pictures up of some pidgeon shit welding later.

I've seen the future and tbh its Pie

quick note, argosheild lite, what youre using now, is the stuff you really should be welding bodywork with, and you will have to alter your settings quite considerably from those you used with co2.......!!!!
