Hello All!

Almost finished building my engine (just the head left to do), and need some suggestions with positioning a few things in the engine bay!

I've got my hands on a RST series2 intercooler, and was thinking about positioning it where the side RAD usually goes.

I wanted suggestions for a front RAD, my last car ran a side RAD (standard) but got a bit hot if it was driven flat out for any length of time :(

Do you think a front rad is the way to go? or should I buy a good side rad and stick the intercooler in the front?

I was going to buy on of those side exit dizzy caps to give me some more space up front, and mount the oil cooler on the left, where the inner wing was. (It's a flip front)

Is this a good plan or will there be a severe lack of space once the engine's in the hole?

Cheers
Dave

The boring bloke who runs this place.

Personally, I'd go for a front mounted rad, but they are a bastard to fit.

check this linky for fitting info:

I think thats all you'll need. *smiley*

Cheers, some good ideas there!

Can't see much room for an intercooler as well as that lot !

It's a good point about having a Rad with both pipes on one side to make the plumbing easier though.

Was wondering if there is a better alternative to the Metro one though, perhaps thinner? Supose I'll have to have a look around the scrap yard and see what's on offer.

Also from memory, the metro electric fan is quite bulky, anyone seen a more compact one than that?

Cheers

R5's and some small citroen fans have REALLY THIN blades, but with a std size motor. It does allow it to be fitted more easilly mind.

I would never put an intercooler in the inner wing. There is only one place for them - at the front of the car, at 90degrees to the road (ie not angled)

A side mounted rad will cool a mini just fine, maybe with an extra rad fitted at the other end of the head aswell (ideally mounted in the other inner wing....

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

Hmm thats a good thought, maybe run twin mini rads, one each side. that would be a good looking mod aswell as an efficient one. run electric fans on both and your away.

what would the plumbing be like on these though?

Would you run them in "series" and connect everything as standard or would you connect them differently?
