right guys im converting to a metro turbo and i will be fitting a intercooler. i was thinking of cutting the drivers side inner wing out to slot it in there, is this a good idea. will i loose strength?

You shouldn't lose any strength, afterall people fitting flipfronts often remove the inner wings. I can't see a bit of the inner wing being removed harming the strength of the shell.
I removed a part of the passenger side inner wing once to fit a Renault 5 intercooler.
