Hi All

I have connected everything up but I dont have a megajolt yet(hasnt arrived yet), do you need anything connected to the PIP and SAW wires to get it to start. Have tried everything. All connections good but its not firing. Is there any way of checking the coil pack and the EDIS unit?

It should fire without a MegaJolt connected. You can check out your crank sensor is picking up by connecting the two leads from it to a multimeter, set to AC volts. As you rev the engine up (firing on a dizzy!) you should see the AC voltage increase, note this will be in milli volts or so, not full volts.

Hi

Yeah checked that and the volts are increasing with RPM. Now where do I look?

By sending a 12V pulse to the coil pack this should produce a spark from a plug earthed to the block, to check the coil pack is working.

Check that the crank sensor wires are connected the right way round. If connected backwards the waveform is inverted and the EDIS won't see it, bat a meter on a.c. will (took me a while to find this on my car when it didn't start).

Ill check the coil pack. I have used all the original wiring from the Ford so all the colours are matched up so in theory all the connections should be the correct way round. Just incase which is the positive side of the sensor?

OK I checked the coil pack and there is no spark. I put 12V to the pack input and it didnt do anything. Does that me a fried coil?

Have you got a good earth....

are all the leads connected?

It needs to be for the wasted spark to work!

I have a good earth, checked all that. When I ran the test on the coilpack nothing was connected. How do I test the coil pack with everything connected? What would happen if I ran it on the distributor but left everything else connected and checked the spark that way?

you need two spark plugs....

the coil fires from both ends, well actually it fire out of one and then back through the engine.

There needs to be a complete HT circuit for the electricity to flow around.

OK Thanks. I'll give that a go. Will it need 12V on the centre and 12V on one of the others aswell?
